my buddies Zack and Andy have a show coming up at NSC contemporary from September 5 - October 6th
"“The Boys From Nowhere” is an exhibition of paintings that began in a studio shared by Andy Decola and Zack Wood in 2001. Drawing on imagery from all forms of media, as well as memory, the paintings consist of narratives and objects placed continually over top of each other. Neglecting a singular painting style, old and unfinished works have been continually painted on (or entirely painted over) since their beginnings. This “over imagery” allows each composition to negate the one before in a futile attempt to destroy the previous meanings or narratives. While each layer can only be interpreted one at a time, the resulting in a homogenous abstraction that presents itself as the sum of a project that has continually gone nowhere and has no end in sight."
